How Our Brand Health Indicator Works

 

BHI is an index that measures brand health by evaluating how it is mentioned across different online sources like social media, blogs, websites and forums.The methodology categorizes mentions into three sentiment types: positive, neutral, and negative. These data points are then used to calculate a score that reflects the overall market perception of the brand.

 

How We Calculate the Brand Health Indicator (BHI)

 

1. Positive and neutral mentions are summed.
2. This total is then divided by the total number of mentions including negative ones to get a percentage.
3. This percentage is multiplied by 10 to generate a score ranging from 0 to 10, where 0 represents extremely negative perception and 10 represents extremely positive perception.

For example: if a brand has 305 total mentions with 208 being positive or neutral the calculation would be 208 divided by 305 resulting in approximately 0.682. Multiplying this by 10 gives a BHI of 6.8.

This score indicates a positive brand image within the analyzed context. This methodology provides companies with a clearer and more objective view of brand perception helping to identify areas needing improvement.
